    Lansdale Farmers’ Market Receives Grant from Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture

    Market is Now Hiring a Part-Time Market Manager

    February 7, 2011 – The Lansdale Farmers’ Market recently received a grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture Direct Farm Sales Grant Program to support a part-time market manager position for the 2011 season. The purpose of the grant program is to promote local agriculture in the state.  Agriculture is the number one industry in Pennsylvania.

    The grant allows the market to hire a part-time manager who will oversee day-to-day operations, facilitate communications with farmers and other vendors, coordinate marketing efforts, and promote and represent the market in the community.  Until now, the market has been run by volunteers and a volunteer committee, and has received organizational support from North Penn Community Health Foundation, Manna on Main Street, and The Food Trust.

    The Lansdale Farmers’ Market, started in 2009, is held in downtown Lansdale, at Railroad Avenue and Main Street, and is open Saturdays 9am to 1pm from June through November.  The mission of the market is to maintain a seasonal farmers’ market that supports local producers of healthy, nourishing foods and quality, crafted goods. The market seeks to build community while providing educational programs that promote local, sustainable living.
